Rich, hand carved. This was basswood (wanted to go easy on myself). Olive wood might be a bit of a challenge, but I have a few spoon blanks of European walnut that will present me with my own challenge as I progress through the softer woods to hardwood. You should look up the Janka hardness of olive wood in the online wood database.
DL, the kids are doing better than they had been. The littlest was sick for 90 days until we got him on a couple new medications.

Ron, I couldn’t hold back a burst of laughter when I read “large wooden spoon” — my mother was Irish (may she RIP) and while I can attest that it was her hands you had to watch out for, we heard about wooden spoons.
