re: Need to make a Zero Insert for a mate

Crowie:  I am at a loss here.  I am not grasping what it is you are trying to do.  When I made a zero clearance for my chop saw, I just milled the material to the thickness needed and made an insert the complete width of the throat.  Screwed it in and lowered the blade through the material.  I didn't muck with the old plastic inserts.  Maybe I am just being thick this morning.   i know I am missing something here but not sure what it is.  ..  .  How about a photo of the base area where the insert goes.
