Crowie:  I am at a loss here.  I am not grasping what it is you are trying to do.  When I made a zero clearance for my chop saw, I just milled the material to the thickness needed and made an insert the complete width of the throat.  Screwed it in and lowered the blade through the material.  I didn't muck with the old plastic inserts.  Maybe I am just being thick this morning.   i know I am missing something here but not sure what it is.  ..  .  How about a photo of the base area where the insert goes.
crowie check with infinity tools i got one from them for my dewalt. the insert is aluminum with a replaceable plastic insert.

Here is another photo of the saw with the original inserts in place. The gap between the two pieces is 12-14 mm (0.5”) which isn’t ideal for clean safe cutting

there are companies that make plastic strips you adhere to your guide. when they wear out you just apply a new plastic strip !

Just make a few pieces the correct thickness from LBDs MDF sand to fit then drill mounting holes.
Screw one in place
Gently  lower the rotating blade at 90 deg and cut the kerf precise ZCI
this is now perfect for 90 deg and the fitted blade.
If you wanting 45 deg swap it out and repeat for Left and right
You can still use the 90deg one for other angles but it will become wider, but not as wide as Mr Makitas original.

Those inserts shown are adjustable inwards (slotted screw holes), but I agree, easy enough to make one's own.
Get a thin piece of nylon and screw it in where those two strips are. Then drop the blade into it to cut a zero clearance insert.

I have used these. They do raise  the height a little. If your miter saw has a slightly lower plate like mine does you can cut the new zero clearance tape to fit into the indentation. Or put something on the supports to raise them.

Dr. Quackner

Thank you folks especially Quakner
That’s a good alternative especially considering I’m 800miles from his place.
