the fence is made with the three flat/straight strips of oak and then carefully prepped for the proper angle at the face. There is a covering with 220 grit PSA to keep the work from sliding around. I do clamp on a stop block (also a triangle) and the flat face for the clamp keeps it in place. The 220 lets me use my kung-fu grip while passing the work through the blade, but a clamp can be used for short stuff.
