LBD, I was hoping for that "nesting" to help, but alas with the kerf and a clean up of the char with a slightly smaller router template (too lazy to try and sand it off) left the inner part too small (loose) for a good lid fit.
With more planning, I could use the offcuts as router templates.
I don't really want to know the details of your "hand pump", but I use a standard vacuum bag and venturi vacuum pump on my air compressor.
The bag fittings are common, though that one Ryan listed looks really trick!
