The Greater Sydney Basin stretches from the Central Coast in the north to Woolongong in the south and west to the Blue Mountains. 
The Blue Mountains whilst a well known tourist destination doesn’t have much farming or rural areas but in the Hawkesbury region there are still many small acreage farms. Hawkesbury was originally one of Sydney’s food production areas and the Hawkesbury Show has always been a local feature.
