@Pottz: The hinges I used: The mattresses are too heavy so the small springs do not help much. The most important was though that the mechanism pushes the mattresses forward and away from the headbord when raising them. Thinking of repurpusing a pair of linear actuators from a scrapped adjustable office desk to be able to pivot the mattresses when accessing the storage below.
