I want to make furniture. I have no time at all. One of the apartment owners at s condo I’m working at bought a dining table from a guy in Brooklyn. The table top is very simple – pieces of redwood reclaimed from a roof tank that are simply sistered together and smoothed. No breadboards, no fancy mitres, just simple and about 3" thick. The 2 leg/bases are steel flat stock bent into a square and bolted to the top. She paid $10,000 for that table that any one of us could have made in our spare time. Well, I’m sure I could make it after a little more hand plane practice. ;-) Anyway, that’s a game I want to get into somehow. I’m working with a designer to try to sell something like this. Nothing set in stone yet.
