Hi Pottzy, I bet I'll be gone before you need one. But I can turn a shaft for you if you need it. My lathe is 44" between centers.

Hi BE49. For this one, I bored a 5/8 hole in the shaft and the handle. I turned a hard maple dower to fit the handle and glued it in. I used it for the centering of the handle when I turned the bottom of the handle to match the top shaft diameter. Then I drilled a 1/4" hole through the dowel and deep into the shaft and  epoxied in a 1/4" aluminum shaft when I joint the two parts together.( the aluminum shaft was for insurance! I used a dowel instead of turning a tenon on the handle because I wanted the grain of the "tenon" to be vertical for more strength. If I turned a tenon on the handle, the grain would have been horizontal in the tenon.( easier to snap of under an impact with a  perp's head! )
