Time - Who Needs That Luxury?!

Long time no speak, things have been hectic to say the least. I hope this festive period finds everyone well and in good spirits. The last few months for me have been crazy! I came 5th in the woodwork competition I entered back in May. I learnt a lot from it and I have decided to improve my skills further before entering another competition just yet. The judge happened to be my mentor so there was additional pressure there and I did my best to avoid bumping into him considering my work was so poor compared to the other entries. Unfortunately my laptop decided to die on me so until I can recover the photos and files I don’t have any pictures of my bookends and I was unable to recover them from the competition.

Since the competition I have been working on various different projects and my business has really picked up. I have been designing my own creations, learning about different finishes, using different paints, pens and techniques. My farmyard collection has proved to be my first big success with my business and now that we are into the Christmas season everything has gone really crazy with how busy I am.

I’m not complaining about being busy. It is a really good feeling to finally have some money coming in and to be making good progress. My next big project will be in January as I have been commissioned to make a bespoke hand carved house sign with a rustic feel to it. I will try and get some more updates done soon with some pictures of what I’ve been getting up to.

Until then watch this space!!

Congrats on being busy.

Congrats and all the best for the upcoming years.

Time is the most valuable commodity…if only I had the time to figure out a way to bottle and sell it!

I have a feeling you would get very rich very quick if you could figure it out

I remembered why I don’t compete at anything but yes I did learn from it. I think if I had been in the right frame of mind and used better materials/sharp tools I would have done a lot better. I was also under the impression that it was just for fun which also didn’t help as I didn’t take it all that seriously due to this.

I agree on the focus and motivation side of things as I really struggle with it but I find when you’re in the zone the work is easy
