Teak and Aluminum Audio/Video Console #4: Materials and Costs

This post is just for grins. Here's what I wrote back in 2006. Barb (BB1) asked me if I had computed the cost in current dollars. I haven't done that, but I think I may do that later as a fun exercise.

The following table lists the materials I purchased for the project along with their costs (in US dollars). The costs do not include sales tax.
I already had wood glue, 1" drywall and 2" decking screws, paste wax, etc. on hand, so I didn't include them in the table. Factoring in their costs (if needed), plus sales tax and other miscellaneous items, brings the total to something very close to $200.

Notes
  • I purchased the veneer from Tape-Ease. Even though it costs more, I like the two-ply veneer because it's very easy to work with.
  • Other than the veneer, I was able to find all the needed materials at local home improvement stores (Lowe's and Home Depot).
  • Even though I needed at most 2 feet of the 2" x 2" aluminum angle for the feet, the shortest length I could find locally was 8 feet.
