A day in the life

My flagpole mount on the side of the house saw it's best days many years ago. Finally I stepped up and did something. I'll see if I did the right thing.

I ordered a metal bracket off the big river . Scraps are usually my first choice for many things. I used western red cedar. Fence boards. $3 and change at the borg. This equates to about 50 cents material for this.

I trimmed the end of the pole to clean up the damage.  I put a dowel into a lathe chuck and drilled it to accept the flag pole. Also drilled for the set screws . I wish I had something better than dowel rod. I'll look around around for an acrylic rod or something.

It only uses the supplied hardware and attaches easily to the porch rail.

I want to find out how the cedar holds up outside. I'm working on something made using western red cedar.
This has nothing applied.

Nice clamping design!
Should hold up well, will be interesting to see if it loosens up from any shrinking.
yup, I expect to tighten it all up, it's just skin tight right now
