Auragami Table

I named this table Aurgami. The idea for this name came from the shape of the butterflies I used.. It's Made from Spalted Maple and Ebonized Ash that I milled. To stabilize the large crack in the crotch area I ran a 3' x 3/4" steel rod through the entire width of the slab. The rod runs through the butterfly and the enters through a that is hole concealed by the folded edge. Sorry that I don't have better photos to share.
First time I have seen butterflies - beautiful! And that Maple is gorgeous. How did you get that hole drilled all the way through? The rod going through the butterfly - wow!

Amor Vincit Omnia

Thank you Cindy! I used a couple bit extensions a used a straight edge on top of the slab as a visual guide while drilling.
That is one complex piece of art!! There are so many amazing elements to it.

How kind did it take you to just design it??’n

JAGO - just a grandma’s opinion

Thank you MsDebbie! This piece evolved as I went along. It first came to be from seeing the slab of Spalted Maple and the idea to use Origami inspired butterflies.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nice Table,  really like the fold. Slabs are always hard to make legs/bases that fit the look,
You did well.
Great Job.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.
