My last few clocks. This was the first of two small wall clocks that were commissions from friends.
The case is made from solid Walnut. The door styles have book matched solid walnut. The door rails and the back board have book matched burl walnut veneer. The back board is enhanced with my usual pale stringing, in this case Tasmanian oak. The three 'lights' of the case are all bevelled glass.
It has two traditional 'steadies' which pin it to the wall.
The typical 'beat plaque' below the pendulum is used to align the clock to the vertical. It could also hide a hole for a second screw to fix the clock to the wall.
The case houses Kieninger's superb spring driven J movement. This is the same basic movement I put in the my Quandong clock - Mantle clock 9. Though this one is pendulum regulated, and winds through the simple plain dial.
The movement is a triple chime on an eight rod gong, with options for Westminster, St Michael, Whittington, or silent.
It chimes every quarter hour, but has automatic night shut-off, with its last strike at 10.00 pm, and its first strike of the day at 7.15 am.
An attractive simple clock that was quite easy to make.
