Heart candle base

Just a quick project from a few years back that my son and I worked on together.  The basic design is three pieces of wood laminated together.  The two outer layers are Cypress, the inner layer is some mystery wood that we darkened and textured by torching and abbrasive brushing a few times.  The inner layer is also a half inch longer so that it stands proud of the smooth cypress pieces.  The finish is a few coats of spray shellac.
