Some of my boxes

Boxes are a true test of my joinery skills (or lack of), there's always enough scrap in the bin to build a box.

Some of my most creative moments have been when I've had to cover up an error in my woodworking.

damn super cool super joe. i was on lj's earlier and saw your project. we have less than 6k and they (supposedly) 76k members and we give more love than they do. your one there got 5 comments, here your one got 17 so far ! shows where you belong joe. LJ'S has become just a jibber jabber wood forum. hell when i joined projects would hundreds of comments. now if you get 10 your a rock star ! well we care about what our members create as does the owner martin. because thats what it's really all about !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Well done Joe, those are very cool looking. 3D effect is great.

You are one sick, but talented, man!Ā Ā

Half of what we read or hear about finishing is right. We just donā€™t know which half! ā€” Bob Flexner

Makes my brain hurt šŸ‘
A lot of thought put in, getting the shading organized like that can really make or break the project.
This is great Joe. What technique is it? Marquetry, cnc or pieces cut at angles?

If itā€™s miter cuts itā€™s incredible and what are the dimensions of the pieces 1ā€ x 1ā€ or 3/4ā€ x 3/4ā€ ect?
The material is all 1/2"X1/2", measured and mitered then held together with glue. Sanded, oiled and waxed.Ā

That must be a mind boggling exercise. Are parts of the pieces stained to get that effect?
No stain, hard maple, domestic cherry and black walnut. These are relatively simple ones. The mind bogglers were a few
weeks ago.

These are still mind-boggling Joe, Well done as always.

All your projects are brain puzzlers but that big one is amazing, so complicated.

Ā This one reminded me of the saying:Ā  " It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma."Ā  GREAT job. Ā
Can you actually build these so that if they are viewed in a special way the magic happens ?
Thanks much,
DaveĀ

Can you actually build these so that if they are viewed in a special way the magic happens ? Well, your eye, no your brain makes it happen.

Thanks much,
