My Way Of Storing English Breakfast Tea

As I've aged, I've had to modify my behavior concerning certain things. This year it has been my coffee habit. So now, tea is once again my beverage of choice. With English Breakfast Tea the front runner. Not wanting to burden my wife with a paper box of tea sitting on our counter I determined to build a "tea box". While explaining this to a woodworking friend he volunteered 2 pieces of "highly figured walnut firewood". I graciously accepted them and proceeded to process them into wide enough parts to match my vision. The pictures show the progression from joint calibration, parts prep, dry fit and glue up to the completed project. Being an ocean sailor and keeping with this being an English Tea box I opted for the British maritime Union Jack as the highlight and proceeded to build my lid around it. 240mmX240mmX114mm. Now to find room in the galley.

Some of my most creative moments have been when I've had to cover up an error in my woodworking.

Lovely and fine craftsmanship.
That's a heck of a piece of firewood, lucky draw that was.

Also wondering about dimension. I'm guessing 7" x 7" and about 2.5" tall, but pics make it hard to tell sometimes.
Tea box of great design,  well done.

The outside dimensions are 9.5"X9.5"X4.5".

Nicely done! Beautiful wood.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Nice! Sometimes I think about all the beautiful wood that has gone up in smoke. I've also had to switch to tea from coffee. Tea is OK, but man, I miss coffee. Funny, because I didn't even drink coffee for the first 25 years of my life.
