This was made for my wife using leftover walnut. She wanted to replace an old shelf we had that was black and made from MDF. I rounded off the corners to give it a nice contour and did the same with the bottom part to match it. I put some keyholes on the back for easy mounting.Β

Looks good Shiro!

Sized just right for below the artwork and ideal for those cuttings.
Nice work on the shelf! Cool to have hidden fasteners, too !!

Nice work! Walnut beats painted MDF hands down.
Nice job. Keyholes work well for this.
Nice looking shelf! Thanks for sharing it with us.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nicely done! I use keyhole slots a lot with smaller projects like this. Pretty simple to cut and makes for easy attachment to the wall.
Looks right in place.Β  Β Well done

Nice shelf! And who doesn't like walnut? Looks good...

Nice build. Are the keyholes facing the right direction?  Horizontally. Not vertically. What if someone accidentally bumps it in the wrong direction?😱

Dr. Quackner

Yes, keyholes are horizontally. I hope nobody bumps into them. But if they do, the plants would suffer and not the shelf. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ Thanks for your feedback. Definitely little details such as this that go overlooked.Β

I forgot to mention you photography is great.Β
Maybe you could put a temporary stop in the wall to stop the shelf from moving on the side that would make it fall. A small brad nail painted the same color as the shelf?Β
