This is a solid stave Zebrawood snare I just sent out. Shell is 20 staves at 14×6.5″ with a 1/2" thickness. I also build the aluminum lugs.

did you start with thicker wood and routed it down to 1/2?

I start with 4/4 and after rounding the outside and the inside I Stop at 1/2". I’ve done shells all the way down to 1/4" thick but get the best sound at 1/2".

Fantastic.

This is beautiful. Great work!

Nice to see here a stave snare drum. Very beautiful wood.

I have made a couple in the past but never got the right sound. To much snare resonance. Do you prepared to gif me some help in the future?
