Cajon

My wife and I went to a concert recently where the drummer was sitting on a simple box, and the sound of a full trap set were being created just from tapping on it. I was intrigued, so I looked into it. Turns out is was a cajon, which I had never heard of until then. I used to play as a teenager, and even as a young adult for our church before we had kids. Sadly, the small house we currently live in isn’t big enough to set up a full set, so I had to make one of these. I made mine with baltic birch plywood, with a zebra wood veneered front. It has a fixed snare on the top right corner. All in all, I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out and the way it sounds. I may add some rubber feet to get it off the floor a bit, and may redo the snare to make it adjustable, but for now, I’m just having fun playing around with it, and the kids seem to like it to!

Happy Easter everyone!
