Floating Crown Molding Shelf

When a local cabinet shop closed down, the owners son asked if I would help him get rid of the scraps and stuff they didn’t sell. I said sure and picked up about 100 ft. of assorted crown molding as well as some other moldings and such. Of course, none of the pieces really matched color wise, so I mixed up some stain and blended it with some minwax poly-shade and actually found a color that worked to blend the different woods to look reasonably alike. Then I brushed on 2 coats of polycrylic. Top was made from a piece of oak baseboard. It was all clamped and glued. No fasteners of any kind were used. I milled cleats to float it on the wall.
