Rick, nice and vivid colors!
What blade did you use to cut? What’s the wood?

I have hardly used my scroll saw and I am ignorant as to what blade is suitable for various wood.

Thank you. Because they were to be painted, I used 3/4" pine. I cut them out on my DeWalt 788 (type 1) scroll saw using Flying Dutchmen Ultra Reverse #5 blade.

Thanks for the info Rick!
I have a Dewalt 788. I did not know there was different type…

I need to check what I got.

Abbas, Castro Valley, CA

The type depends on when it was made. I got mine back in 1995 when they were made right here in the good old USA. Not sure when the change happened but the name plate should have “type 2” on it. The 2’s are made overseas.

Ah, Since I bought it 4 years ago, mine is probably made in china.

I will check this weekend.

I am not sure if it makes any difference, there are a lot of very happy type 2 users out there. I just know that in all of the time I have had mine, there hasn’t been any problems with it.

Type 2 ):

Maybe that’s why my scroll sawing skills have not improved since I bought it LOL.

When you have time, check out Sheila Landry Designs website, and her YouTube channel. She has posted a lot of tips and video lessons along with a intro to scrolling book that is quite reasonably priced. Sheila is a great person and designer that loves to help people with scrolling. You can pick up your phone and call her with questions if necessary. Be sure to tell her that I sent you if you do contact her. Steve Good is another great resource for scrolling. He posts patterns and tips on his blog and YouTube. And while I am NOT in their league, I have been scrolling for years and might be able to answer your questions.
