Distressed nightstand/dresser

I built 2 of these mainly out of leftover lumber from our house remodel. My wife wanted a master bedroom with a “beachy” feel. Once constructed, I stained the dresser and drawers. I then primed and painted, leaving the insides of the drawers stained. In my opinion, I got a little carried away with the sanding to show the stain through the paint but I later built a headboard to match that wasn’t quite as distressed. The top is filled with sand and sea glass from the beach in Hawaii where we got married. The next project is to build a chest of drawers to match!

What a great gift. Is the sand held in place with anything like polyurethane to keep the wave shapes? That’s such a nice touch.

No, the sand is just sittin under the glass. Can easily be removed or replaced. The design in the glass really gives it a water effect.

Totally unique.
