Cherry Dining Table

We had a dining table that was older than my wife and I put together. It was basically falling apart and was very….used looking. Since I have some extra time on my hands, I decided to make a new table for the family!

The table top is a torsion box, using cherry ply as the very top, construction ply as the supports/framework, and birch ply as the bottom. I made the top parts, glued and clamped them together and let them sit over night before adding the lips. The lips, skirt, and legs are all cherry hardwood. The legs are four pieces laminated together, left to set over night, and then tapered. Once everything was put together, I put on a lacquer finish (about 6 coats), sanded it with 400 grit, and brought it inside! We had our first diner around it last night!

I, and more importantly, my wife are very happy as to how this table turned out! Check out the build for the legs:

I will be posting the rest of the build shortly!
