You're too hard on yourself, Bently.  Your pictures are certainly well above average.  Taking photos on an install with limited area from which to shoot is much more difficult than setting up a photo of something you can move around, like furniture or boxes.

Blame it on the camera.  Perhaps you just need a different camera that has bellows that you can adjust to use a wide-angle lens but not end up with major distortion, like photographers use for architectural shoots.
