An interesting topic, I’d be curious to see what the master finishers would say to this topic, George Niel and others.

If I had only one go-to finish, I’d go with my on mix of wipe on poly (satin) I’m on the same page as James when it comes to the appeal, here is my reasoning, first it gives the appeal I’m looking for, it’s durable and mostly it’s the most cost effective in my book being that I make on own mix.

All of my boxes I stay pretty much with the same ole method, I first start out with a single coat of formby’s tung oil, two – three coats of wipe on poly and a final wipe of paste wax.

My mixture consist of a 55 / 45 mix 55 poly 45 mineral spirits I use these "epoxy mixing cups ":http://www.amazon.com/Great-Planes-Epoxy-Mixing-50-Piece/dp/B001BHEGTW/ref=pd_sim_21_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0TF0PT62D6BFWJKV5WMR and pour only the about of mixture I need to do the project I am working on into a 1 quart empty can leaving no waste and very little clean up, the cost for a can of mineral spirits along with a pint of poly can carry me a long way.
