Tis the season here in NM where the fruit trees are blooming out. Usually 3 out of 5 years we will get a freeze that kills the buds, the years where the freeze doesn't happen or happens too late, we get an overgrowth of fruit that begins breaking tree branches. Anything near-ripe remaining gets taken out by the metallic green beetles that burrow into the fruit.

Dicky birds get the few survivors, usually pecking at every ripe one until they find one they like.
At least the trees make for good greenery during the summer!
