I often use my echo in the shop for is a timer when mixing epoxy.  Super handy to just ask Alexa to set a timer for 5 minutes so I know when my open time is about up.  The other thing is the air cleaner.  It comes on automatically but sometimes I don’t want it running and I can asked Alexa to turn it off.  I occasionally use it to turn the lights on or off when  it saves me from walking all the way across the shop or my hands  are full.  I used to use Alexa or my phone with a smart plug to turn  my shop vac on and off from across the shop but not since I got the supercell duct collector.

I have several smart plugs that get used for various things around the house but those are usually temporary uses like Christmas lights that I program to go on and of at specific times.  We’ve had several water leak issues and I recently added water leak sensors sensors at key points that will alert me on my phone anywhere I have service.  This winter, I used a temperature sensor and smart plug in my green house to manage the heater I have out there and alert me when  temperature gets below a certain threshold..

Nerd house for sure.
