Being a great user of flock, it was hard not to comment and share my views. For small areas/jobs I use the "Mini Flocker", however, for larger areas and inside box sides I use this air gun, dialed down to 25 PSI, I use paint as close to the color of the flock, that way if you do an oopsie, the paint camouflages the lack of flock... should not happen unless the paint starts to dry or is too thin. The paint has to be thick/heavy enough to "glue" the flock but not enough to cause blobs/runs... unfortunately, oopsies are hard to patch... sand back and redo if possible.
I do it with a fence around it in a spotless tray to recover any excessive over spay, and there's plenty if done right. It is great for larger boxes without visible seams like you'd get with felt, great for those awkward shapes, however, its more cosmetic than a cushioning surface,
Having mentioned felt, I often use felt since I discovered it cuts beautifully to shape on my laser, though without the laser, flock used to be the only main alternative.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
