While moonlighting over at LJ, I found the need to enlighten some guys about these items. Although we are verboten to mention Craftisian under penalty of death, as most are already serving the maximum (banishment), I wanted to volunteer my opinion... I remember posting something about this here and eventually found it under my “Hints and Tips”and while I just posted this link and my YouTube video link, I felt that it may be just as obscure over here... so this is my benediction.

That could be handy at times. Years ago I bought a cast iron table extension for my Unisaw. This had a plate to mount a router, and another plate to mount a hand held spindle sander.
I only had a router, and eventually got a stand alone router table and sold it.

A lot of guitar builders use rolling pin sanders for levelling the sides. This would be one of the high end versions. https://elevatelutherie.com/product/rolling-pin-sander-v2/
Motorized small diameter drums are a big helper for inside curves. A dedicated spindle sander can do the job well while keeping angles perfect. This unit has the flexibility of getting inside those pesky curves and the convenience if bringing the tool to the work, however keeping angles is much more difficult. Kind of like using a ROS on board ends. Either way, useful tool for a lot of stuff. Easy to make one with just a drum sander "balloon" arbor and handle but having a properly built unit is a time saver.
x°?? It gets to those angles the spindle sander is too heavy to lift to.
It's not meant to replace my spindle sander, but it's an alternative for all those whingers that complain about space. A low footprint alternative at a reasonable price.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
