for me it would have to be after the first of the year.

Yeah, I would hype it up through the holidays and launch it after the new year. Maybe Jan 10th or something so you’re away from the holidays. Shipping beginning of March? That way it’s done before a spring swap might start?

Sending alcohol from EU countries or the United Kingdom to the US is not permitted for private individuals.

As I understand it, neither is sending alcohol through the US postal service, doesn't seem to slow them down. 😁

The shipping fees for heavy stuff are pretty horrendous from EU/UK to US though, so add that on the the chance of impounding stuff at customs it does seem a bit dicey.
thats why kenny only allows american members in the beer swap.

Could add EU people in if you get more than one.

Anyone seen Mads lately? - Dutchy could send a mini whiskey delivery truck up the coast to Denmark.
yeah the only over seas would work is to pair people up in the same country.

There are slightly more risks involved in sending to long distant destinations, but as long as no prohibited items are involved, it is certainly possible.  In addition, it naturally takes a little longer before it reaches its destination, and due to the higher costs, the participant can indicate whether or not he wants to send to another continent.

To think about;
Because Craftisian has participants from all over the world (and yes I know most of them are from the USA),  would be nice if everyone could participate.  The whiskey must then be omitted, but as far as woodworking is concerned, a lot is possible.

Global participation worked in the surprise swap.

The nice gift I got from Ryan:

if just woodworking projects it would be fine. if bottles of liqour are involved maybe not. i would not try and send a bottle of whiskey over seas myself.

Do they taste test it? Just put the whisky in Dr. Pepper bottles
Not sure within the US, from what I have seen for the Beer swaps it seems doubtful they do, but BIL has advised on security matters since Sept 11, and coming into US borders most packages are screened with large X ray like machines looking for "items" that could be explosives. Most of that has a liquid component, so bottles of booze would likely be noted. Whether or not if they would just say, oh, thats just a fifth of booze, and let it fly, or say wanna see what we are drinking tonight, I can't say?

I think Jan has it, do a Booze related swap of a woodworking project, that can hold, or serve a bottle of Booze, but have the recipient place the booze into it, so no one gets busted, or their item snagged at the border. Something like the item Pottz got from Dave, sans the hooch.

I can't see any border getting weird about wooden projects, as long as it was kiln dried, and didn't contain any pest related problems. IE: Ash and the Ash borer when it was first out, whole logs, and bark related items were a no no, but items of kiln dried Ash were ok. I suppose you would have to research your own country, and report if there were any known no no's. Plenty of wooden items traverse the globe daily though.
NO BOOZE !!! george are you drunk ? thats like the beer swap and no beer ! so with no whiskey or whatever it just a surprise swap then. ill think about it. dont call me ill call you 🙄😎

Rosewood is banned in some countries. They find it they confiscate it.
as i start to write this swap up  i am considering to say send a bottle of whiskey if you want to if not that is still fine BUT then its just a surprise swap WHAT SAY YOU ?
