It is Monarch Time

This is the time of year we watch for Monarch Caterpillars.  We bring them inside and raise them to Chrysalis and then Butterflies.  Left in the outside only a small percentage make it to Butterflies.  Over the years, we have been 95% successful.  It is great fun to watch the process and release them.

weve had a butterfly bonanza this year. all kinds all day everyday. my wife raised a couple a few years back. very cool watching the process. i need to get some milkweed.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

How neat. Please post more pictures over time.
All over the maters, they do go through some changes.

Lately we have had a showing of quite a few "Hummingbird Moths" we have a lot of Ruby throated Hummers, and we feed them, but in the last few weeks we have been seeing a lot of these "Clearwing Hummingbird Moths" They throw ya off. Their wings are see through, kinda cool. I can't say I had ever noted them before. My Wife the Naturalist, she volunteers with the county parks, and is always pointing out new stuff to me. Nature Girl. :-)
Birdseye, do you guys do the wing marking/tracking? I’ve seen some stuff on that before…pretty cool.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

No..I have not done that with tagging. I just enjoy raising and releasing.  What a thrill when they fly away.
