New molding plane

Recreated this "hollow" molding plane No. 8. The original is an Auburn Tool Company, NY c.1870 but beyond repair or restore. The sole is completely damaged.  The new version is "maple" and works exceptionally well. I did sid save & reuse the iron from the original. Possibly in the fture, I can actually restore the Auburn Tool Co. wood body by replacing the lower part ( hollow) but it would be more of a challenge than anything.

Norman, this is excellent craftsmanship, this plane looks terrific.
Do you ever document the process?, how the details are achieved so perfectly?  This aspect of this plane's making, and MrRick's recent plane making post, really intrigues me.
Nice save Norman!

I will document the process in a series of 3 upcoming videos for the next pair of hollows & rounds.
