My dear friend Charles Neil passed away yesterday after 8 months of battling septic. Charles was a master furniture maker, finishing expert and great teacher on both subjects both online through numerous videos and in-person classes. In spite of his great talent and expertise, he would always stop and answer email and phone call questions no matter what he was doing. I feel honored to have known him as a very special friend and mentor and to have been able to know him, he was a one of a kind giving human being, him and his masterful work will be missed by many.

Thank you Charles for all of your kindness, friendship and sharing of information and know-how (RIP)

Jeff Fleisher has started a Go Fund Me for Charles Family to help pay the large Hospital bills that Charles had due to his extended stay in the hospital. I’m asking anyone Charles has helped to please donate to Charles Gofundme.
thanks

Sad news, indeed. The world needs more like him. He was generous to a fault with his time and commentary. I will add my support to this.

Thanks for the address… this is about 3 hours from my house, and takes me past Hal Taylor’s mountainside shop. Can you confirm a telephone number for me… Rockingham is a county in Va., not a town (Harrisonburg is the ‘largest’ town in the area, and the address appears to be a commercial site – most probably Charles’ shop.
Thanks.
Mike.

Got it!

I’ll drive-down early Saturday… I need the quiet drive-time, anyway; with some luck, I’ll catch-up with Hal.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend, Jim. It sounds like he was a real gem- a good friend as well as a master craftsman. I wish I had known him.

Thanks, Cindy , he is missed by lots of people , he always went out of his way to help people. We were online friends something like 17 years just as he started doing videos but I have never had the privilege of being with him in person , Jeff and monte and lots of his other friends either visited or spent time helping him,I’m grateful Charles had great friends like Jeff and Monte and his family help him for years and during the last year of his life when all of his health issues seem to multiply.

I still pray for him & his family… I miss him…

Why aren’t any of these posts Dated? (instead of “8 months ago” forcing one to use Math to calculate When it was!)
Maybe after a week, spell the Date out…
OK?

Thank you,
Joe

Joe, it was last December , I think you made comment on Neils Facebook page about it then. I miss him too, I get all choked up when someone post his photo.
