Does anyone play the saw?

After looking at Scrappile's Hand Crank Organ, I remembered my aunt playing the saw for special music at church occasionally when I was a child.  I'd love to try it.   Do any of you have any experience playing the saw?  Here's an example:

I remember hearing my dad talking about, this was back in the 60's. He got his saw, and made some noise. I won't say he played it, but he tried. It did make some weird noise.

hairy, I think it actually takes a lot of talent. . . and practice.

Saw my Grandfather take the saw flex it a bit and then thump his thumb on the saw.   The blade is kept under pressure as the thumb hits the blade.  Quite easy to do, even I can do it.    As you change the flex of the saw blade the sound will change in tone.     No tunes just some higher pitched whines.     Try it.    Never saw one played with a bow.

well my talents only go as far as playing the fool sadly nil musical ability or talent.

I have my grand fathers singing saw, the teeth have no set to them but his thump prints are still on it.
I'm 74 years old and remember sitting on his lap as a small child but never remember him playing it.
It must be quite old but have no idea, sad to say.

My husband tells me he'd rather listen to me play the piano than practice learning the saw.  I did a little more research and think the arthritis in my hands (especially thumbs) could give me a little grief trying to hold and flex the saw.  I'm a slow learner and probably too old to play well enough to enjoy it before I turn 100.

I play the fool and SWMBO doesn't like it either.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Rolf Harris was good on the wobble board but he cooked his goose big time, and not the only one unfortunately.
I bet he is keeping his third leg well tucked away and out of sight!  Bloody sicko!
