Color matching dye stains

Has anyone out there used a good color analyzer app to match existing dyed furniture?

I'm completing my first project of this year, dining table for my wife, and I want to "somewhat match" the existing furniture - a buffet (which was store bought). The match doesn't need to be exact, just reasonably close. This new build is hard maple as is the buffet. I say the buffet is like natural cherry, the boss says no!

I downloaded a free app - Color Grab, but without any developer instructions, I don't know what to do with the photo taken. It did tell me the color was "brown with orange", guess I could experiment with mixing brown dye with orange a little at a time & see what happens.

I was hoping to get a more definite answer at to percentages of each color, possibly R G B, or some variation thereof. I will be using a water based dye, TransTint, TransFast, or something from Moser or Lockwood.

Any suggestions or advise will be most appreciated,

Thanks
“Brown with orange” sounds to me like shellac. Orange or ruby, maybe?

Color matching apps like that aren’t especially well-suited for matching colors of wood + stains. That’s a harder problem than inks on papers, which is mostly what the ones I’m familiar with can handle well.

I agree Dave, these are not designed for my intentions, but; I've watched a YouTube video by a colorblind individual that gave me some insights into this Color Grab app that may help me.
I've got to experiment a little & should this pan out, I'll pass on the information.
I use a Color Muse 2 to compare color differences and correct for them.  I went over this on LJ, but basically you're looking for differences and shifting your recipe to account for the difference.  Everyone knows green complements red and vice versa.  The others are blue and orange, and yellow and violet.  With those six colors you can take a color that's close to your target, like medium brown or Van Dyke Brown, and shift it to match the target.  Takes a lot of trial and error, but it can be done.  Aerosol toners are also a good way to do a final tweaking.

I should also point out that any color grabbing apps aren't going to be accurate enough because they're affected by the color balance of the light the measurement is made in.  Outdoors they will shift towards blue and indoors under incandescent or halogen light they'll shift red.  The Color Muse uses a calibrated light to compensate for that.
