SplinterGroup Never seen that before, neat! Looks like with proper planning there is no extra tricky chisel work over a regular DT, just additional baselines to work to.
It's harder to do than regular dovetails with almost twice the surface area to cut. You have to be precise all the way with your chisels. Any gaps in your joint will be noticeable. Planning as you say is crucial along with good sharp chisels and execution. Here's another one I did slightly different. I found it easier to do.
