SplinterGroup: No purpose for this one, yet... The Wood is a mystery... The cast-off Bureau was NOT Factory made, shows signs of being a home made thing... But whoever built it, hit all the buttons! A lock was installed on the only remaining drawer and... the carcass is rock-solid, no racking, and had some nice detail work on it... N.H. has a host of American Hardwoods in it's Forests, so it could be a multitude of things... As I said, it resembles Oak and Red Oak, so it's probably a relation... Beech? Chestnut maybe?? I don't know what it is (but I wish I had more of it!) Thanks Steve! awsum55: It could have gone either way John! There was much consideration before the top was cut-off about up from down...
