Thanks guys... the boxes are nearly older than me as can be seen from the foreign pieces of contrasting embellishments on them.  Made in the days when I was a thrillseeker and had time to spare. My recent venture into laser cut MDF boxes for tools is not as pretty, but when secreted in a drawer, their ugliness is hidden from me.

Pottzy, if you fiddle around with dowels, they are a must... I was primarily introduced to them when I was making models (vehicles) and needed a variety of different sized pistons... ideal for drilling dowel centres on the lathe... and other turnings.

As can be seen in the metal boxed set, many are still in their plastic wraps... I've only used a few, but because of their range, they can accomodate both metric and those recalcitrant imperial dowels cheap hardware stores import from China and sell as metric.

JEMI, thats my version of an Indian turdon.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
