With the system running correctly, the next step is to reinstall the floor.
The floor is a set of extrusions. A narrow one goes at the back and then 3 wide ones. It is a bit tricky to get the screws in place. The screws go through the lowest part of the extrusion and are tightened with an allen wrench reaching through the top. I put the screws in place on one end and used to allen wrench to get each one started into the threads. I was then able to left the other end and slide the screws in place.
I then reinstalled the front of the enclosure.
Even though I intend to have a new spoil board system, I want to use the CNC to make the new pieces. So the old spoil board goes back in. It’s not pretty but it still works.
I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to get the t-nuts located, but a bit of measuring did the trick.
After I got the spoil board bolted down the last step was to cut a circle and see if the problem was gone. I clamped a piece of scrap plywood in place and ran a file to cut a circle pocket.
The circle came out great. My calipers only found a difference of 0.004” and I’m not sure I can measure that accurately!
Nice Steve. Professionally, I often gave the advice in the past to make an inner and an outer circle of the same size. This possibly at different locations. The inner circle should then fit into the outer circle.
Great job, Steve. Have you trammelled the spindle? I suspect that mine is ever so slightly out of plumb, but it hasn't been a problem with most cuts. I do notice a faint stairstep when surfacing the spoilboard. Someday I'll look into it.
