The red tools neither venture into the salvage yard all that often nor last long when they do. The folks at the salvage yard are also unaware of the markup, and being made out of aluminum, usually get judged by weight. Light weight? Painted red? Small? Must be cheap. Little do they know that small red aluminum things often prove to be quite expensive.

That being said, I got this for $1.50

A dollar and fifty cents

I didn’t even know what it was. Then I looked it up and thought, who the Hell needs this? Just use some calipers for crying out loud.

But then I thought about it. Mind you, it had no price; so bringing it to the register was a gamble. One that paid off.

Not too terribly expensive (I think it goes for less than $30 new) but for $1.50 I will give it a shot.

After all; it’s not every day you get a steep discount on Woodpeckers tools.

Looks like it’s never been used. Which is not a good sign if someone owned it since 2017 and it ended up at salvage completely unused in all that time.
That's cute, but my Incra stuff will have the anodize worn off in less time. I have a Zyliss Z-vise I bought new in box for less than the selling price. Inside the box was the sales slip from the '80s, which had been run through a credit card imprinting machine. I of course shredded that receipt. It's not anodized red, it's just natural aluminum. I has a sads. Still, you got a good deal, and I truly envy you that source.

😂 thanks! I hope it comes in handy.

I think it will. The reviews on Amazon has people raving about it, over how it eliminates the unnecessary step of measuring. Just slap it on part A, tighten, flip it over and try to slap it on part B. Instant go/no-go tool for checking a fit or setting up a machine without having to lug panels around that perhaps are not yet ready for a dry-fit.

It’s that last part that attracts me. Building a large cabinet, can check the stopped dado against the previously milled pieces, etc. without having to move them.
