This is part 1 in a 35 part series: Urban Ore

In this series, I will be posting my finds from Urban Ore — a salvage yard that opened in the 1970’s and is located in Berkeley.

I frequent this place to find deals. Interested in what they have to offer? Come check out this series.

I will be trying to post photos of my acquisitions in their acquired state. Restorations will be posted in a different series (yet to be created — circle back later).

I buy tools from many locations, but this series is dedicated to Berkeley’s Urban Ore salvage yard, located on a 3-4 acre lot in West Berkeley across the street from MacBeath hardwood lumber dealer. Stop in and pick up some amazing lumber with lots of deals while you go salvaging. Oh, and they are also a stone’s throw from Ashby Lumber which is an amazing source for builders. I would be remiss if I did not also mention the nearby Berkeley Mills whom have to be experienced to believe, pop into their showroom to step back in time to a World of wood that ought to have any woodworker salivating at quality craftsmanship.

Come with me on my journey to find the priceless tools we love that are rare and hard to come by.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

😜 I’m headed that way. I was giving them sh*t today on how much of my money they pulled out of me.

I made 5 trips there today. Five. And I bought something 4 out of the 5 trips.

My excuse is that yesterday someone dropped off a massive 30-year collection from their brother that past away 3 years ago, and they are offloading the collection
