I needed a mallet for chisels and I only had a metal hammer. This would eventually deform my chisels.
I built a mallet with eucalyptus wood on the handle and guava tree on the mallet.
Now that it's ready, it's even a shame to use it.
NO NO NO! Not a shame to use. A pleasure to use. My old mallet is pretty beat up from mis-use, but its still a pleasure to use each and every time. Same goes for cutting boards and whatever other useful stuff that gets made IN YOUR OWN SHOP WITH YOUR OWN HANDS!

Losing fingers since 1969

i agree with brian.it's like guys that make beautiful work benches then are afraid to beat em up. tools are meant to be used no matter how beautiful.nice work.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Very nice mallet
Show it again in 10 years and you can brag about how much use it's gotten and how many things it helped make. Now go beat the heck out of it...
Thanks for sharing.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

“A shame to use it” .. I guess that would make it art for its own sake.

Woodworkers/ craftsmen are so lucky that they have the skills to make something beautiful, art, that is also functional and get to enjoy the beauty while using it!!
