PSI bottle stopper chuck system storage

I recently bought a PSI bottle stopper chuck system. It’s got a Chuck that’s 1”-8 on one side to fit the lathe, and a ⅜-16 thread on the other end to fit their bottle stoppers and openers. Plus a drill bit and tap for make the hole in your piece of wood to match.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, but it doesn’t work especially well for me. Maybe I’m just too ham-handed while turning, but I keep stripping out the tapped hole in the wood.

Anyway, I needed a box to hold all the pieces parts in one place, and this is it. Sycamore sides, butternut top, and pine bottom. A short piece of piano hinge left over after another project and a latch.

Finished by sanding it flat on the belt-sander with 80 grit, then applying a coat of tung oil.

May you have the day you deserve!

Nice job.  How do you keep track of all your shop-box contents??  I would forget and have to open them all.  😊

Nice one Dave! I bet you’ll get the hang of the tap. Keep at it!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Good storage is a great way to go Dave

Now you know why I drink casks... no need for stoppers and comes in it's own box.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

22° 5' 22, 178° 12' 38....  though after a few drinks, who cares!

You've gotta invest in a laser...

The WORDLE boffins may aid in the "crypto".

Thanks, Ryan!

Thanks, Oldrivers!

Thanks, Ducky! A sharpie works fine for me. I had two lasers while I was in MN. Traded one (plus some money) to Mos for a post drill, and stripped the plastic gears on the other and decided it was too much headache, as the phone software for them was miserably bad.

Nice box, looks good.    I have made a few lately then had to go back and put labels on them go remember what was what.

Another creative and well made storage box here Dave, nice work.
Thanks, Ron! I sometimes find I have to label the other end of the box, but I now have a four-pack of spare sharpies scattered around the shop.

Thanks, Tom!
