Small Crosscut Sled

Migration project
At the time I didn't have a crosscut sled and decided to make one. The design is from various others with a couple ideas of my own. The bottom is 1/2 ply with the ends 3/4 ply with two pieces glued together for more rigidity. I used scrap Padauk for the runners. After building it I made a through cut and adjusted it to exactly 90 degrees with the saw line using my digital measuring tools. I then made a blade guard at the back to protect hands, etc., with a cutout in it to see when the blade had passed far enough. It was sanded, sprayed with lacquer and again sanded lightly. I then waxed the bottom of the sled and the tabletop to allow it to slide easier. Then sanded down all edges for safety. I used the bandsaw to cut down the back a little to lessen the weight a little, this was done before assembly.
Nice handy sled, Mike!!!!!!!!!!

I like that, have to keep this one in mind.

Like the simple design. Small but solid with the doubled ends.

Nice sled, good job, enjoy it.

I need to make one of these. I have a large one that is great when cutting large pieces. I think a smaller one would work for most of the jobs.
A smaller unit is perfect for the more typical crosscuts I do. You have some fine features like the tall fence for clamping stops to, love it!
One of the most useful tools in workshop!! Excellent look
