St. Andrews Golf Treasure Box

Made this box for a friend, an avid golfer and has played on the old course at St. Andrews, Scotland.    Saw an old set of placemats and one was of St. Andrews.    That became the inset for the top.   Trimmed down slightly to remove the border.    Box is of Australian Red River Gum.  14 1/2" wide x 8 inches  deep and 4 inches tall.   Wood thickness is 1/2"   The lid lift is part of the front edge of the box, all one piece.    The cork lining on the top is to hide the back of the placemat.   Felt on the bottom of the box.     Dovetail corners.    Item inside are part of his treasures from the visit.      Fun project and finding the placemat was an accident.    Worked out nicely.

Very thoughtful and beautiful gift.  Fitting to have the green felt - seems appropriate for a golf themed gift.
Thanks for the comments.   St. Andrews is a special place for golfers.

Beautiful, you gave it an old-world look which goes good with the picture. Excellent job.  Mike
