Apple wood bottle opener

After yesterday’s mimosa bottle opener and getting a late start this morning due to the fog, I decided I’d make another bottle opener. This one uses a piece of apple wood from a crab-apple tree that had been in my front yard in Minneapolis. I made it a bit longer and stouter than the previous one, and it feels better in big hands like mine. Plus it’s pretty wood with just enough spalting to add some visual interest.

May you have the day you deserve!

nice one dave. i think i have a hunk of that wood left myself.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Sweet Dave, and yes the grain looks nice.

Looks pretty nice.   Like the wood.

Thanks, Pottz! It’s some pretty stuff!

Thanks, Eric!

Thanks, Ron!

After making the first one yesterday, and planning who I was going to give it to, this one will go to that guy, and the other will go to the guy my sweetie said, “Did you make that for X?” because he’s got smaller hands. I’m trying to decide if I’m going to “throw in” a six pack of Zia Root Beer.

May you have the day you deserve!

Sweet. Nice looking handle, the spalding makes this unique.
The spalting really makes it catchy looking. Great job.  Mike
Thanks, Tom! There are also pieces with a white deposit, which is a different look. That crabapple died of old age, and the wood shows it.

Thanks, Mike! It’s some special stuff.

May you have the day you deserve!
