I built this for my BIL.  I drug my feet for a year, citing how expensive it would be to make the top, etc...etc....  My wife and I were at the Woodcraft store and as I was checking out, she came along and added the "top" in the form of a verneer, that I had not seen previously.  I said oh, you need a vacuum bag and pump, and the clerk launched into how he had never used one and had good luck....etc etc...
So that is how it began.  Honestly it was not that hard and came out dead flat.  Given the cost of the verneer, I think I would make it again from solid walnut and ash squares.  I made it primarily from wood I had on hand, so I don't have a lot in it.  The drawer has a home made earth magnet catch system that holds it in place.  Finish is 5 layers of Antique oil and a coat of Renaissance wax.

That turned out nice Mike, the drawer is a great addition. Does that slide out on each end?

Main Street to the Mountains

No, just one end....  It has a 3/8" magnet and a 1" receiver washer buried in to back to hold it shut.  Thanks Eric...

Mike

That's really nice!

Good job Mokey... the light on the 6th. photo is a tad blank... That red liner... felt, flock or photoshop?

Thank you all....

Duckie, I had forgotten what a PITA it was to set all this up.......Its been 2 1/2 years since I did any Product Photography.
And I forgot how it shows any flaws......It is sticky back felt in a roll adhered to light matte board, cut with a hatchet bladed paper cutter.  Fitted and then tacked with Elmers.  Some one on the other site told me how to do that and it works awesome, is trouble free and comes out great.  I can't remember who it was, but thanks loads!!!

Mike

Nicely done Mike.    I think the photography is just as good.     Good looking.

Ron

Nice! Great project.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks again all

Ron, I don't have the cool stuff I had in the studio, and I just have the one background.  And I have lost a step or two with my Photoshop skills.  I noticed I over enhanced it ad picked up some red in the edges....but it will have to do.  Photoshop is so incredibly deep, you forget all the little enhancements and short cuts when you don't use it every day.

C'mon Moke, do you need a photography lesson? Just slap it on a workbench... and press that focus button before you toss in some bird feed,
