Bobbin Rack

My wife quilts (award-winning level), I work wood and metal. She bought a couple boxes of bobbins that were pre-wound, as that is less time-consuming and wasteful of the spools that she has to tap into. Plus, a real time-saver. But the bobbins are in cardboard boxes, and she has to take them out a lot to locate the color she needs. She asked me to make a rack to fit inside a plastic box that she had already bought. I got into my design software and made a rack for her. The "posts" really are vertical; the pic was taken up close.

Great simple project to help the misses out, well done.

Thanks! This took a couple of hours. I hope her friends don't want one; the price would be prohibitive. Then again, one can always use more cash flow.

Some quality time with your drill press!

It's satisfying to make something needed by someone else, and then to have others join in on the list.

The downside is you can easily become "that guy" and end up as everyones "tool" ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Nice rack however! you went to town with the radiuses and chamferd ย dowels, a lot of steps!
Thanks! The rounded corners are there because the plastic container she put the rack in has founded corners. As for making them for others, I'd need a large order so that the time spent overall would be reduced. I wouldn't sell one for less than $50, given the time invested, if they were made one-off.
