Kitchen Table Top Build

I built a quartersawn white oak tabletop for a wrought iron table that originally had a glass top. I decided to video tape the process just to document the build. I thought it was interesting after showing the video to my son, he mentioned how much more work it was than he thought.

Here is a link to the YouTube time lapse video I made to show my family what goes into making a project like this.
It is about 7 minutes long, so if you would like to see it here is the address:

beautiful top, loved your video.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Thanks guys I appreciate it.

Pottz, I'm surprised you watched it. I think I had about 13 hours recorded and was able to cut it down to 7 minutes which is pretty long. But it stopped my friends from asking if I could build something cheaper than they found at IKEA.

Nice tabletop, with the breadboard ends and the small mortise squares being incorporated.

Fantastic looking QSWO John! You nailed that finish.
Wonderful wood with a great finish.

Nice looking table. Breadboard ends are a lot of work
Thanks everyone, I hope you all know I've been bringing things over from the old place. Didn't want you thinking I was on a building spree. ;-)

Really nice grain on that oak!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

I love that quartersawn oak. In Europe it is difficult to find in modern furniture. You only come across in old buildings such as churches e.g. But maybe sooner or later it will come back into fashion here.

We went through the ‘Oak period’ in the 80s and 90s here in California. It left an unfortunate negative impression on me. So much cheap ass oak pieces being flaunted as high-end. QS is definitely a different beast, and I do love the Craftsman aspect of it.

Nice new table top, very nice. I like the pegged breadboard ends, nice touch.
Thanks again everyone.
Ryan, I have several other pieces I still have to post of things I've made with QSWO. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
